I’ve grown accustomed to the pain
In neck and head; in spine and shoulder
I feel it pulse through every vein.
It weighs on me—a heavy boulder.
The pain runs deep; it’s fire fried
And tires more, as I grow older.
I so long to be spring inside,
And life live full in every way
With comfort’s tender peace abide,
But, pain, you’re here again today.
