My Inner Spring

My Spring

In spring I rise alive to see
Fruits of the winter’s pregnancy.
What joy I feel at nascent birth,
The babe of spring returned to me.

All winter’s snow-crowned white is worth
Waiting for my spring’s reworked earth.
The sky’s a softer, purer blue.
My thoughts contain a brighter mirth.

Fresher, too, air and flower’s dew.
Wash away the sullen darker hue–
As of late blanketing my soul.
With new vigor I spring anew.

I vow to everyone bestow
a kinder touch. More love I’ll sew.
Like new-hatched chick, new songs I’ll sing,
And brighten life, easing some woe.

Yes, all my world will know it’s spring!
