Your Love Poems (on reading Sylvia Plath Your Love Poems (on reading Sylvia Plath and Ted Hughes)

Youthful desires fired your love
tragic affair and aftermath
voluptuous violence at its heart
painful poems portray it
with powerful perceptions
leading us to live by proxy
the erotic force flowing
from that first fondling

Others crave insistent kisses
but the taste of blood
tempted your mouths–
trickling, tantalizing–from
one lover’s cheek
brutally bitten by the other
like a cheetah its wildebeest
prey in primal need.
