Dear April

Dear April,

I write to you as one of millions
who watched and waited
and watched and waited
and watched and waited
and watched and wondered
many moments more.

With the titled grace
of the queen on camera
you turned out to be
you held us charmed
to your calendar
regardless of our need.

Never in world news
has a giraffe been
given a glimmer of the
gawking enthusiasm
you have with your
caught-on-livestream life.

Not since Prince George,
I hear, has a
“boy” baby’s birth
on our earth
caused such curiosity
and sensational commotion.

Your calf is quite
a Saturday morning sensation
an admirable addition
to Adventure Park
Pardon our intrusion
on such miraculous moments.

Sincerely,
Awed Onlooker
